Ever heard of avoidance activities? I learned about them from one of my mission presidents. He said it's what we do instead of doing what we should be doing. Make sense?
Allow me to explain.
I'm the queen of avoidance activities.
For example:
When I was in college, my house was always the cleanest when I had a paper to write or finals to study for because I would spend my time cleaning, organizing, and doing projects rather than sit down and work on my paper.
When I have a lesson to prepare for Sunday where can I be found? Most likely I'm in the kitchen trying a new dessert recipe or outside weeding my flower beds.
Going somewhere for the weekend? Forget about packing - I have knitting and sewing to do!
This week you may be asking yourself why the heck I am posting so much.
Well - I'm avoiding something big.
And blogging is my avoidance activity of choice.
The closing date on our house is June 29th and we all know what that means:
packing and moving
So instead of getting a jump on things by packing a box or five a day, I blog.
What is your favorite avoidance activity?

I read a book, or just about anything I can get my hands on (cereal boxes, junk mail, movie jackets) when I want to avoid doing the dishes or cleaning the house.
This is hilarious. I'm with you though, I HATE moving. It was so miserable when we moved from Irvine. I was 7 months prego and SO UNMOTIVATED. I feel bad for you right now for sure.
I am right there with you on this one. I am amazing at avoidance. I will read, cook, clean, workout, pretty much anything I can think of. But being so preggers as you are and moving from your house, I can't blame you for avoiding it.
hahaha! I am great at avoidance activities or should I say I'm the worst. I like to cook and craft any time anything important needs to be done. Good luck getting everything done with your house!
right on Monica! you can always knit me something and maybe I'll come down to help you pack. miss you guys lots.
Shocking as it is at 2:00 AM, my avoidance activity is checking blogs and facebook. I SHOULD be sleeping - trying to recover with a one-week old baby. However, I dread going to bed only to be woke up a couple hours later to nurse. I would rather stay up, nurse, and then hope for the best. As luck would have it, Jake has decided to sleep longer than normal and I could have had a great start. To top it off, I have plugged milk ducts and laying down is not all that comfortable so I'm not looking forward to bed. I'm going to be hating life tomorrow! Especially now that the grandmas have all gone home!!! BUT, packing sounds worse. Good luck Monica!
